SAN FRANCISCO, CA – San Francisco’s Long Bridge Pizza Co. is experiencing growth in both business and square footage, they recently expanded their location doubling their original size.

Less than a mile away from the Giants home-field at AT&T Park and half mile from where the new Warriors stadium is being built, Long Bridge Pizza creates one of a kind pizza using a sourdough crust.

Owners Neal DeNardi and Andrew Markoulis opened Long Bridge Pizza Co. in the Dogpatch district in 2014. The area has experienced a lot of change in the last five years. Where industrial manufacturing once labored, now a thriving community of shops, chocolatiers, and breweries take their place.

Pizza Equipment Professionals was on-site on a warm summer day to deliver Long Bridge Pizza’s second Cuppone Max double deck oven. Their large kitchen was bustling in preparation for the lunch crowd. Remarkably, the ovens are the only source for cooking; no ranges or fryers, they use the ovens for roasting peppers, garlic, mushrooms and handmade meatballs – and of course pizza.

“It [Cuppone ovens] brings out the characteristics of the dough for our style of pizza” says Markoulis, owner.

He attributes the oven’s ability to reach high temperatures to achieve the texture and char that customers have come to crave.

In true San Francisco fashion, their pizza crust is a naturally leavened sourdough. Using a technique that captures a yeast found in the atmosphere specific to their geography, the dough doesn’t use instant or frozen yeast, instead they achieve a nice proof through good ingredients and time.

Located just steps away from the 20th Street stop on the Muni T line and only a few blocks from the 22nd Street Caltrain station, their newly expanded location can accommodate 70 guests, and offers over a dozen beers on tap. With five breweries within a half mile radius, Long Bridge is a great place to grab a pizza and stroll.
